These are some of my smaller abstract paintings. Most of them are 16 x 20 inches. During the time I painted these, I was convinced that they were executed without any emotion because my primary goal was to paint nothing.

Truly believing as I did, the ultimate goal of an abstract artist was to attempt to do the impossible and paint nothing. For me, these works were simply compositional exercises painted sangfroid (in cold blood).

I felt that leaving emotion out of my work was a good idea because who really wanted to know about my challenges or pain? Isn’t that what the Blues were for!
