This series was created during a visit to the United States after living in Portugal for several months. I had an opportunity to paint and continued to explore my fascination with X’s.

I discovered the symbolism was an attempt to block endured traumas, the layering symbolized the pressures I had endured, and the calligraphic lines or scribbles represented feelings of entrapment and a genetic memory of my ancestor Antoine LeForestier dit Fortier.
